Gas to Liquids project to take-off this month –ExxonMobil

The much expected Gas to Liquids project by the ExxonMobil is expected to start at the end of this month, the Managing Director of ExxonMobil, Mr John Chaplin has said.

Speaking yesterday at a discussion with the federal government representative in Abuja, Mr. Chaplin said ExxonMobil remain committed to being a catalyst for development in Nigeria in response to government energy objectives.

He said the Gas to Liquids for Petrol Technology is a project comes into fruition as it would serve "a catalyst for economic growth and development".

He stressed that the project which would see port/terminal facilities built in Akwa Ibom state that would facilitate shipping thereby enhancing Nigeria’s marine leadership in the Gulf of Guinea.

The Gas to Liquids for Petrol project was presented to President Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua by the ExxonMobil management in March this year.

In his remarks, the Minister of State for energy (petroleum) Mr Odein Ajumogobia, says federal government is eager to see the proposed ExxonMobil’s "Gas to Liquids for Petrol Technology" Project.

The minister said the project is a brilliant idea and is in line with government’s aspiration to utilize the nation’s abundant natural gas resources." Mr. President is very anxious to see that the project comes into reality," he said.
